How to make a receipt for a PhonePe payment
Add your business details and a receipt number, then the name of the person who paid and the amount. The mode is already set to PhonePe. Paste the reference from the app, add the invoice it settles, and download the PDF.
In PhonePe, open History and tap the payment. You will see a PhonePe transaction ID and a UTR (the UPI reference). The UTR is the one your bank statement shows, so it is the more useful one to put on the receipt.
Edit every field before you download
Every field on the receipt is editable: your business name, the receipt number, date, payer, amount, notes and the invoice it settles. The preview updates as you type, and nothing is uploaded. The receipt is built in your browser.
If you issue receipts often, keep the numbers in one series, such as RCP-001, RCP-002 and so on, with no gaps. A broken series is the first thing that looks wrong when someone reviews your books.

Which PhonePe number goes on the receipt, transaction ID or UTR?+−
Use the UTR if you can. It is the UPI reference that appears on bank statements, so it matches the payment from both sides. The PhonePe transaction ID can go in the notes as well.
Is a PhonePe screenshot enough as proof of payment?+−
It is the payer's proof that they sent money. A receipt is your acknowledgement that it arrived, with your details and a receipt number. Accountants and auditors ask for the receipt.
Can I use this for PhonePe payments to my shop?+−
Yes. Shops, freelancers and service businesses all use the same receipt. Add your shop name as the business name and your GSTIN if you have one.
